Jouko Ahvenainen is the Chairman and co-founder of Grow VC (www.growvc.com), a new  open and transparent model for start-up funding. Jouko is an investor and  entrepreneur across the US, Europe and Asia and is active at a senior level with many web and mobile enterprises. With more than 15 years experience in  international business management and having been close to many VC deals in  past, ranging from 150k USD to 15M USD, Jouko is passionate about the  challenges in finding and supporting the next great venture. Jouko believes  that 2.0 will significantly change all business, and finance cannot avoid that  change. Now is the time to create new open models to accelerate early phase  company funding.

Starting his first software company at the age of 16, Jouko then held  progressively senior positions at diverse technology firms including Cap Gemini  Ernst & Young, Powerwave Technologies Inc., Nokia, and Sonera. He is a  pioneer in the field of social media marketing, and played a significant role  in developing the first social marketing intelligence solutions for mobile and  media companies. Jouko is on the boards of various start-up companies and is a  co-founder or seed investor at six companies, including Ratecards Inc. and  Xtract. Jouko is a certified advisor for NasdaqOMX Stockholm and Helsinki early  phase company lists. 

Jouko regularly speaks at marketing, start-up funding, mobile and web  2.0 conferences including Mobile World Congress, CTIA, and Informa, IIR and  others’ conferences around Europe, Asia, and the US. He is also a co-author of  the Social Media Marketing book (Futuretext, London, Feb 2009). At the moment  Jouko lives near London.

Andrea Laganà  works in the Home Network and Handset Innovation Unit of TILAB – Innovation,  Engineering & Testing Department of Telecom Italia.
He is an electronic engineer and has  a Bachelor degree from Genoa University and a Master degree in Telecommunications  from Turin University
He has been working in the Research  and Innovation area in TI for more than 10 years, in the Business Process  Reengineering, Service Management and Marketing areas, especially addressing  the Telecom Italia’s wholesale and regulatory services.
Since 2004 he is deeply involved in  FMC activities, being responsible for trial projects of FMC Solutions and  Terminals, and being responsible for the Innovation of Convergent Solutions within  the Digital Home environment.
He represents the Telecom Italia  Group in FMCA, where he act as the chair of the Board of Directors and as the  leader of the Digital Home related  activities.

 

Maurice ZembraMaurice Zembra, CEO, vertical M2M & Data Transfer & Vertical M2M

 

Maurice has been working for 15+ years in the telecommunications & software area, with various technical, sales and management positions : first as a consultant in France and Italy at IBM Group, then as a sales manager at Cegetel (now part of SFR), the French telecom business unit of VIVENDI Group. In Dec 1999, he co-founded and was CEO of an innovative telecom software company named Active Telecom providing multimedia & ToIP service platforms for telecom operators that was finally sold to IC Telecom, a French listed company in Nov. 2007.
    In Feb 2008, he founded Vertical M2M, a software & service company dedicated to machine-to machine solutions for vertical markets (Energy, Healthcare & Environment), and launched in early 2009, together with partners bringing 20+ years of expertise in the homecare & medical market, Medical Data Transfer, an innovative company providing turnkey monitoring solutions for the medical homecare market.
    Maurice holds an Engineering Degree in telecommunications from Telecom ParisTech and a Masters in Economics from Paris-Dauphine University.
    Maurice combines a comprehensive experience in several key areas :

Stream is specialist mobile network services provider to the M2M  sector.

Also a chartered  accountant and market research professional, he has a wealth of experience and  brings both operational and strategic perspectives when it comes to M2M based  services and products, having been immersed in this field during the past ten  years.

Stuart has presented on the use of mobile technologies at conferences and workshops across the world. Also, he has worked on several UK Government sponsored mobile projects and worked with digitally leading organisations such as the BBC.

I'm currently the Director of Engineering in the UK for the  Geo Technologies group at Yahoo! The Geo Technologies group provides the tools  and technologies that drive user location, geocoding, location identification  and disambiguation within Yahoo!, both internally and via public services such  as GeoPlanet, Placemaker, Fire Eagle and Flickr.

I first started hacking on a Commodore PET, built my own  Sinclair ZX-80, spent too many years behind the console of a VAX, started off coding in Assembler and FORTRAN before ending up in C++ via C and have over 20  years experience of managing and engineering large-scale software projects,  predominantly in a UNIX environment, in a wide range of industry sectors.

Prior to taking up my role at Yahoo!, I've worked within the  geo domain for companies such as Digicon, developing geophysical technologies to aid in the search for natural resources and the European Space Agency  Research Institute in Rome, Italy, participating in the development and launch of ERS-1, Europe's first remote sensing satellite. Outside of the geo field,  I've worked for companies including the BBC World Service, Reuters, Factiva.com  and Network Associates.

I've spoken and presented at a wide range of events  including #geomob, the British Computer Society, State of the Map, Where 2.0  and several location themed mashup* events.

Peter  Elliott is the global lead for PA's Smart Infrastructure Initiative. He has  over 20 years experience in telecommunications and IT. He has extensive  expertise in the ICT sector with experience in business and technical strategy,  business planning, large and complex launch programmes, as well as  hands-on experience as CTO/CIO roles.  He has led large-scale Smart Cities  projects in the Middle East that utilise pervasive networks and embedded  devices. He has deep understanding and operational experience of front and back  office systems (inc Billing & CRM) and wireless technologies (GSM, UMTS,  WiFi and WiMAX). Peter has had senior technical management roles at Orange and  The Cloud Networks. He also successfully grew a wireless-focused consultancy  before joining PA in 2006.

At TomTom Simon is responsible for the  end-to-end delivery and quality of the various services TomTom offers to its  customers. Among these are HD Traffic, MapShare, map downloads and the Web  Based Route Planner.
Before joining TomTom Simon was with XS4ALL as CTO and Operations Director.  XS4ALL is the oldest and most influential Dutch Internet Service Provider. At  XS4ALL, Simon was responsible for the introduction of new services to consumers  and businesses. Before XS4ALL Simon has bene in various positions within the  telecoms industry.

Hans Christian HaugliHans Christian Haugli, CEO, Telenor Objects

He started  constructing electronics at the age eight, and gained a MSsc in Electrical  Engineering at NTNU in Norway  in 1980.From 1980  to 1984 he was a researcher at the European Space Agency developing mobile data  satcom systems. From 1984 to 1994 he developed new digital satcom systems for  Inmarsat including Inmarsat-C, Inmarsat-M and Inmarsat B as project manager.From 1994  to 2002 he worked as CTO at Vistar Telecommunications in Canada where he  led the development of the GlobalWave data gathering system. In 2002 and 2003  he was CTO for a small start-up developing peer to per messaging solutions.In 2004  Hans headed back to Norway  to lead Telenor’s Research unit where several new innovation initiatives were  undertaken, one which led to the establishment of Telenor Objects which he  joined in 2009 as CEO. Objects vision is to enable any connected object to  interact with any application in a safe and efficient manner.In his  spare time Hans develops electronics and software for his boat and restores an  old car.
Anders EdlundAnders Edlund, Marketing Director, Bluetooth Special Interest Group

 

Anders Edlund is the Marketing Director for the Bluetooth Special  Interest Group (SIG) in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Edlund has devoted  the past twelve years to Bluetooth wireless technology - first at Swedish telecommunications leader Ericsson and  then at the Bluetooth SIG.  Over the  years, Edlund has become a distinguished spokesperson appearing in hundreds of  press articles and TV news stories worldwide.
Edlund joined the Bluetooth SIG in August 2002 with the goal to assure  that Bluetooth wireless technology  becomes a true global consumer technology. He is responsible for developing the  marketing activities as well as making sure that Bluetooth wireless technology is effectively and accurately  communicated to its members, influencers and end users.
Between  1997 and 2002, Edlund worked for Ericsson, where he was heading up the  marketing activities of bringing the Bluetooth wireless technology to the market. In doing so, he played a key role in the  formation of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group and the development of Bluetooth wireless technology from the  very beginning.In addition to managing the world-wide registration of the  trademark, he built a marketing strategy with convincing  user scenarios.
Over the years, Edlund has acquired solid  business, product management and marketing experience. His previous business  expertise is in satellite communication and industrial computer science.
